Professor fails me for not passing one of the five major essays, How would I argue for deserved grade?

It states in his syllabus that there will be five essays and one of the essays at which is a research paper. These essays ,including the final, must be completed satisfactorily in order to obtain passing credit. I failed the research paper (biography of a family member) but completed every other work with a B+. I had trouble with this particular paper, but had a previous research paper in Freshman English in which I got an "A" on.

OK, first "previous research paper in Freshman English" has nothing to do with the class.

In the real world, you do not do the job assigned, you get fired or demoted.

However, to present an agruement to the Prof, there is one point you have made. " must be completed satisfactorily in order to obtain passing credit"

If you completed the assignment but got a failing grade and there where no illegal entries (cheating), then you can present the fact that it was completed by got a failing grade. However it was meeting the requirements of the essay.
