According to 2009 updated MLA, when do i know if i need to cite the entire website?
I am gathering a bit of information from one website and using it on my short argument paper. The info is within the website but from different sections, if that makes sense.
My teacher is anal with the MLA citing and i have the Hacker handbook but it doesnt explain.
How do i cite it? both in my essay and in the works cited.
Do i use the format to cite an entire website?

Using the URL in 2009 MLA is up to your teacher if she wants those in there but the basic rule is to cite it as “WEB” in the reference. You are also going to have to use “In Text” citations for your references in the body of the work as well and the link for that is on the bottom of this. The Owl link given to you previously is the best reference for MLA and APA so bookmark it and scroll to the bottom of the main page and you will see the links for various in text and reference styles for virtually any type of media, books, web pages etc etc.
Straight from Owls 09 MLA style:
MLA no longer requires the use of URLs in MLA citations. Because Web addresses are not static (i.e. they change often) and because documents sometimes appear in multiple places on the Web (e.g. on multiple databases), MLA explains that most readers can find electronic sources via title or author searches in Internet Search Engines.
For instructors or editors that still wish to require the use of URLs, MLA suggests that the URL appear in angle brackets after the date of access. Break URLs only after slashes.
