is a major in biophysics good enough to be accepted into a Ph.D program in pharmacology or toxicology?
I am attending Wake Forest University and want to major in biophysics to go into a career in medical or health physics, radiology, or maybe pharmacology or toxicology. So I was wondering if I still majored in biophysics and minored in philosophy or chemistry, would I still be able to go into a Ph.D program in pharmacology or toxicology? If so, what programs would you recommend?
For PhD students, $ matters. especially, most of the PhD students depend on sponsorship of the faculties.Toxicology is pretty tough area to earn grants, so money is tight.
If I were you, I would avoid toxicology.
Pharmacology, on the other hand, is more flexible. Often times, it collaborates with many different branches of school of medicine.
To get into that program, it depends on what your research focus is in biophysics. If you are good with physical chemistry (quantum level), then, yes you may have a good chance of getting into pharmacology program.
Other than that, I would suggest you to stick with physics.
Pharmacology or Toxicology isn't interesting area as you may originally have thought.
